A friend's C220 CDI (2003) model is leaking some sort of fluid from the engine in small amounts (i cannot not make out if it is the coolant or engine oil unless it is doing both as there is a dark patch (of what appears to be engine oil in his garge that appears to have exited from a location that is central to the engine).
Also, on the drive where he leaves his car at times there is some fluid stains that appear to have come from the car's engine on the driver's side (which the coolant tank is also located on).
Could it be that his head gasket is leaking or on its way out? The W203 does not have a oil dip stick so I was not able to check the condition of the oil. Also, whilst the engine was running on the car today whilst I was having a look at it there was a white cloud of smoke exiting the tail pipes of the exhaust (its was about 4 degrees tempertaure wise outside and the engine was sort cold too and had only been driven a very short distance down the road before) - is this normal for CDIs to do this under these conditions or could this be related to the fluid leak problem from the engine bay area?
Normally, when a CDI engine has faulty injector (s) does that also lead to a white (ish) cloud of smoke exiting the exhaust tail pipes? Can Star Disagnostics detect faulty injectors?
What do you guys make of the above?
