The first one is a little too big, I prefer the subtle look. now the questiong is do i get it in silver to match the paint or black to match the top edge of the boot...?

Agree with you. Second is much better! Definately black to blend in with the edge of the boot. Silver would look like a tacky add-on. .

The only limiting factor at the moment is I don’t have the tool required to fit it… money! My coupe has cost me a fair bit in my first month of ownership (service, 2 new rear tyres and road tax) but loving it nonetheless!!
