Miro that maybe one for you as i using a quote from yourself on one of my other posts:

If you know someone with Developer mode then you can also code the rear running lamps to be a complete horizontal bar instead of that lamp in the middle of the rear lights cluster.

I believe the replacement of the rear lights from pre-facelift to facelift is not just a straight swap.

From searching through this forum and others i believe that the connectors require to be changed. Then there's the matter of the twin lamps on each of the clusters, as the pre-facelift only has one lamp how can this be changed? Is it only star systems with factory / developers mode that can do this? Do you know the part numbers of the connectors?

If i can't get this coding carried out will only one lamp work on each of the clusters and will this cause any errors?

I believe the 7 pin connectors you're referring to are A211 545 0328

The issue is the coding and the Mercedes pin removal tool (apparantley you can swap put the connectors with a fine scredriver) however I definitely wouldn't want to butcher this.

I assume you have looked into this?

Surely you must be able to run with just the one lamp in each of the cluster?

Yep :) to be honest I haven't had the time to do attempt it yet.

I got the facelift lights and then found out about the connectors

Anyway I've tracked down what I believe to be the connectors (part no's supplied above) but haven't gotten round to trying to change them.

I even thought that I'd have a look behind the trim to see if it may be possible that the rear light clusters run of a shorter loom (possibly going back to the SAM). Haven't looked yet, may get a chance later this week.

I figured that if this is the case I could try replacing a short section of wiring loom instead of playing around trying to swap out connectors figuring out which wires are supposed to go where!

But hey based on everything else I've had / found out I figured I'd leave it for a while.

I also have the question that you raised 'If i can't get this coding carried out will only one lamp work on each of the clusters and will this cause any errors?'

Hopefully Miro or Steve (MBenzNL) may have some input.

Personally, if going to go to the trouble/expense of doing this mod which IMO would not be noticeable then why not "stand out" from the crowd and instead get the these W220 face lift rear lenses/lights - they are simply plug and play and no issue with pin connectors as they require 6 pin connectors (same as the originals) on the pre face lift cars. People with face lift cars which have 7 pin connectors are actually having to mod their cars to 6 pin connector spec for these lights...!!!

PS. There are LED and NON-LED available in this style - AVOID THE "LED" LIGHTS!!! - Very problematic.

Now these lights on the W203 look "SEXY"

IMO MB should have considered this design for the face lift W203...!!!

If any of you folks out there are in the "festive" spirit then you know what to buy me for Christmas...:p :D

Nice 202 with Avantgarde grille there in the reflection :)

I've seen quite a few of the W220 tail lights over on MBWorld and with my car being black i actually thought about it.

The more i look at them the more i think that they just don't look right.

Never seen a W203 with them in the flesh yet.

Does anyone know what the part no. for these lights is?

Also, are they a straight swap and will they fit with no tinkering?

YES - on pre face lift cars not a problem - just plug and play! They are non OEM MB parts and are after market hence no part no. I have seen them on ebay for about £120-£140 for a pair. Avoid the LED ones and just get "NON" LED.

Thanks!

I found them!

KJ

Does anyone know what the part numbers are for the 2005 style front lamps - the projector style one?

I bought the entire rear lamp wiring harness. It took far less figuring out and does not cost enough to justify spending hours on the wiring connectors.

After replacement I entered coding in developer mode and setup my lamp configuration so that the rear lamps appear as they would in a 2005 car. In case you have not noticed they are not the same !

Excellent, I was planning on stripping the trunk lining to see if this would be possible. Please could you help out by anwering the following:

1. If I replace the rear lamp harness would the lights continue to work as normal (i.e. just one running light instead of two on each side). This would let me install the lights and get the coding done by someone with Developer mode.

2. Any chance of part no's, I assume the harness for Australian cars will be the same for UK RHD cars?

Thanks in advance...

Same question from here!

I'd love to find someone that has developer mode too. It would be great to carry out some of the slightly more unique mods...

Does Miro ever do UK visits? I read some time back that he was planning a trip back in July.

If i thought that someone had developer mode i'd make the trip from Glasgow as there's no chance anyone up here is going to have it!

My last trip to London lasted 48 hours and cost me as much as a week would cost in Berlin. I have been using www.tripadvisor.com and find it most helpful.

Steve in Netherlands has developer mode.

London's not cheap - but elswhere in the UK it's not so bad.

Maybe think about flying to Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, etc if you plan to come back.

Here's a question that has been in my head since Miro mentioned that rear sams come coded with alarm settings.

Would it be possible for a rear sam to be coded prior to installation? What i'm getting at is can advanced coding be carried out in another car then transferred? IF it can it may be just what some of us are looking for.
