W203 hid kit.

I'm my experience these things won't work and you will continue to have problems until the cgw coding is changed. Onthe last car that I was asked to code the front Sam actually strobed the newly installed aftermarket hid lamp, but all was fine with no further faults when the coding was altered.

Is it just me? Everytime I see the title of this thread I think a Merc has hit a kid.

*Update*

Second set of HID Cancellers didn't work. Caused light to strobe. Ballast is faulty, uninstalled the kit. Reinstalled normal bulbs. Man has it been a headache.:crazy::(

I sent these guys a mail. HIDS-4-US

Looks good. Going to wait though.

Question for Mods; would it be worth a sticky page about xenons/HID kits/star enabling/legality of kits as these questions come up so often?

All xenons (whether OEM or HID kits) are 35w and the car needs to know they are fitted so as not to set the bulb failure warning.

You need STAR (MB diagnostics system) to code the car. All dealers have them and most indies.

BTW HID kits are illegal for road use.

Not true, i have Xenon HID kit fitted to my 209 clk and they work perfect with no coding. :thumb:

Therer advertised as having electronics in the ballast box so they are plug and play. Only £56 as well
do you have a link for those? as i would be interested in getting one if it is plug and plug on a w203

Why it's illegal?
Will it not pass MOT or rather problems on the road? And what chances are to get caught?

Cheers
Chris
