Seem to have developed a problem with the front drivers side wheel area when i go over any sort of pot hole or bump. The result is a knocking noise.

Decided to check both areas tonight and whipped off the wheels and low and behold i can see a problem with one of the bushes on item 140 below. Instead on the control arm sitting dead centre its hard over to one side on item 145.

See below:-

Are these easy to do or is it a garage jobby!

Couple of photos of offending items:-

I believe these are the Torque Arm Bushes - mine went on my C270. Characteristic 'banging' noise when driving over rough roads or under braking. Got mine changed at my local indie - cost about £180 all in. You could probably DIY them if you have a press to get the old ones out and the new ones in!!!

Apparently, this is quite a common fault with the 203's

My W203 had same problem this week at an Indie £109 part and £25 labour plus the old con VAT

Am i right in saying that if item 140 is purchased it comes as a complete unit and therefore no need to press the bush in? Obviously item 145 is cheaper but i would think the press would be required?

Should these be done in pairs?

Item 140 - £106.81 ex VAT
Item 145 - £17.66 ex VAT

Strange thing about item 140, part number for my VIN shows as A2033302011 superseeded with A2033303411 and then A2043302011 is this the normal on EPC (new user)?

Silly question when selecting sides ie drivers would that be right hand on EPC?

i had these replaced a few weeks back as mine were knocking at every bump i hit, i replaced the pair as i needed both anyway.

I bought mine from eurocarparts for 80quid the pair. They call it a lower control arm.

I didnt need a press to get them out or for that matter put the new ones back in. The hardesr thing you will have to do is remove the joint and then replace it. a good rubber sled will do the trick.

So it was the complete arm you replaced and this came with the bush already installed?

While getting my brakes and tie rod ends done my indie noticed the same thing on my c180k.
Has quoted me £140 the pair inc labour & vat. Not that bothered though for the minute. Holding off until after my lads birthday!!
