After looking at a huge amount of photos and stalking cars in car parks the only difference i can see between the Pre & Post Facelift Front Bumper is the insert.

Does anyone know if the inserts can be swapped to give the car an updated look?

Its possible but would require considerable amount of work/labour to make it fit!!! Lorinser do this with most of their body kits on MBs i.e. change the lower lips of the front/rear bumpers.

I personally would not bother with this mod as it is very subtle and I dont like the fog light shape on the face lift.

I definitely think there are 3 different shapes and that's not including the AMG's.

I'm going to take a photo of the front end on mine and post it, I'd appreciate it if others could do the same so i can compare.

On the pre-face lift W203s the Classic/Elegance share the same front/rear bumper lips (these are straight flat lips) where the Avantgarde lip was indented with a groove/line for styling purposes and the housing around the fog lights was a slightly different design with no mesh which Classic/Elegance have - side skirts were too slightly different on the Avantgarde,

On the face lift bumpers/side skirts are the same for all models/trims (Classic/Elegance/Avantgarde).

Only way that you will be able to modify your bumper to fully look like the face lift is by “replacing” it as the air in take on the face lift is different too in addition to the fog light housing design. BUT you can change the lower lip of the front bumper to that of the face life! AMG front bumper looks the business but would mean changing the rear and side skirts too and not cheap either. If I was you I would change your headlamps to either bi xenons or at least the face lift halogens to update the look of your car depending on your budget and worry about the bumper after.

it is not worth bothering with your bumper. just find a cheap second hand bumper on ebay.
