W203 Speakers

i use plastic tyre lever to prise card off without scratching paint.

Good tip.....

I used 18mm MDF to make the adapters and as you said, quite straight forward in the end.

looking good :thumb:

BTW - i wired mine 'stripe positive' - the multimeter showed no difference in polarity either way but it has always bugged me that i do not know for sure which way it should be

Pic of Avic attached, there are some on an earlier post as well....click on 'Double Din' below

Will get the speakers next week and have a look into making up the adapters,

Cheers, Adam

Do these head units work with the steering wheel controls?

Stripe was positive on mine. The front speakers had a sticker on the magnet to tell you.

If there are no markings on the speaker, the easiest way to tell is to use an AA battery, 1.5v.

Connect a wire to each terminal of the battery, I just taped them on with insulation tape. With the speaker disconected, touch the wires from the AA battery to the speaker terminals and watch the cone. You will either see it jump out or pull in. If it jumps out, you have the wires the right way around. ie the + of the AA is connected to the + side of the speaker. If it pulls in, they are reversed. Only do this for a second and NOT on the tweeters.

As for the Avic unit, yes the steering wheel buttons work You will need the ca-r-pi131 or ca-r-pi133 steering wheel interface.

Volume + -, track change etc work ok but the phone buttons will not activate the pioneer phone.

It really doesn't matter. The speaker wont mind as long as they are all the same.
If you did em wrong the sound from one would cancel out the other.
That's all
