I was just wondering if anyone could help me out with some advice. I've recently brought a C Class W203 and wanted to change the current grill to the sport grill with the M Star emblem in the middle.

I think they look similar to the ones on the CLK's and Evolutions. I've tried at my local dealers but the grill is either to small or too large to fit.

Any ideas of any aftermather retailers ???

Cheers in advance.

There are many but I cant say that anything costing $150 USD is much good. Most decent types are $250 USD and up.

There is a converted CL original grille and it costs a fortune.

Then there should be a HOW TO coming online in the near future I hope.

I am very interested to know if these grille stars will be removable and replaced with the CL DISTRONIC star for the purpose of operating a W203 with Distronic cruise control.

Pacemaker and miro - Many thanks for all the info and advice.

I completely agree with Pacemaker that the CL type grill looks great. I took the plunge and ordered it from http://www.specialvehicle.co.uk/merc models/C Class W203.htm

It came to just over £250 (inc VAT and P&P). The Grill came with the bonnet emblem and attachment and the 'Grill M Star.'

I was quite impatient and wanted a U.K retailer just in case the grill didn't fit. Also a majority of the U.K sites do not include VAT in their prices (Mico that's GST for you m8) so it thought it was a relatively good price.

Also I haven't looked at this thread since Sat 02/04/05 so I actually missed both your posts. I'm sort of kicking myself as I've just seen Pacemaker's thread for the grill at £150.

I'll let you know what the quality is like as it arrives today and will be fited tomorrow.

Let us know if the star pops out so that I could consider the solid W215 star. It is a solid star without mesh where the black is. It is used for cars with distronic and for some people its also a nice looking star.

For 250 pounds you better take some photos.

this grill sells on ebay and usa websites for under £80
sorry to be bearer of bad news

MIRO .. i have seen the grill your after, it is simular to proper cl type grill(pic in my post on goup buy) but with distronic star, i think its cheaper again as not as popular
was offered one by forum member in states for £80 if your interested as i prefer the 3d star

I just want to know the source of the grille with the removeable star. The W209 and W215 have that feature. I may never need that information. But this seems like the thread to get it.
