Anyone know how to remove the washer bottle from 2002 C Class?

Anyone know how to remove the washer bottle from 2002 C Class?

I have recently removed it in order to install a much larger version with heating. I found that it was much easier with the bumper bar removed and headlight removed. This is because the two bolts which hold the bottle in position are under the headlight and behind the bumper.

I was quite capable of removing and install the bumper without even touching the steering wheel or wheels. The hard part is knowing where to start.

First of all remove the front lower wheel arch cover. This is the one concealing the washer bottle. This will expose the pumps and wiring. From there look down the engine bay and see what you can find in terms of access to the bolts at the top.

The bottom is held in with friction on a rubber plug. The filler neck also has a seal plug that fits into the bottle.

Why do you need a heated washer bottle in aus? :)

Because three days ago it was boiling hot and yesterday it snowed.

The real reason being that I desired the option code on my car and it was a relatively easy fit.

A true hard-core modder  No real reason for having other than "you can!" :bannana: :bannana:

Hi im looking at doing this mod to my car i have a 230k coupe is it simply a case of swapping the bottle over plumbing in the coolant hoses and the heat exchanger ? Any advise appreciated we get a lot of icy days here lol

Appreciate this is some time after the original query, but my experience is that you don't need to remove the bumper.

My 2002 W203 saloon has a separate front piece to the inner wheel arch liner. First take off the wheel. Then there are 4 10mm self-tapping bolts, and 1 clip under the wheel arch - the clip is the sort where you pull out the centre pin then remove the serrated clip - and a further 3 such clips in front of the wheel arch under the bumper.

Once all of these are out you can pull back that part of the wheel arch liner and you can see the bottle clearly. In my case a grommet was clearly missing, leading to a major leak. I replaced the grommet (5mm diameter) and all was well.
