I bought those centre caps for my wheels, were on about 12 months, all through the harsh winter until they decided enough was enough & started to fall apart. Can't fault them for the cost & the fact they lasted so well during the winter months ☺as for my wheel nuts I just bought black 17mm wheel nut covers from Audi to cover the rusty heads of mine.

At the £20 they are asking they look good value compared with £140 for genuine AMG ones. I think I’ll be giving them a try.

The predicted rain didn’t arrive but the car still got a coat of Zymol. Even got round to fittingbthe AMG PL sticker. :)

Mercedes Wheel Centre Caps – Affalterbach Silver – Mercedes Centre Caps | Mercedes Center Caps

Has anyone bought these centre caps? The genuine AMG ones are nearly £150 a set. I’m sure the quality of the genuine article will be better but would be interested what people think of these.

They do a nice selection of other centre caps too

I have these Andy, I will show you them at the end of the month- been on through the winter and just over a year- 3 are fine , One has delaminated a bit ( after my MSL visit) but for the price I can replace them several times...

Hi. Looking forward to seeing them.

As you say at the price they are asking , if you get a year out of them they still look good value compared to £140 for the AMG ones :)

New centre caps arrived today, kept these oem silver until I get the wheels redone in gloss black with a diamond cut. The ones that are on don’t look too bad from a distance but the chrome is pitted when you get up close. These new ones look decent enough for £16 :)

After 200+ miles yesterday I’d collected plenty of flies. The Zymol wax makes getting them off really easy with just a light soak with water and a bit of a rub with a wash mitt. :) AB74561C-A656-4845-9E3B-5ACE5744ED83.jpeg F1939BC4-091E-44A4-85A9-CC40B7CD254E.jpeg C4C0471B-5C8A-45FE-B419-65BD991204F5.jpeg

Thanks , I just love the polar white with black pan roof, plenty of wax helps getting those flies off :)

Yes it’s definitely a lovely package :)

Have you thought of getting some show plates to put on the car when taking pics? They are only about £10 and would look awesome.

Thanks for the compliments, it was well cared for by it’s first owner, now it’s pampered by me , but it does get driven .

I’d not thought of show plates but it’s a good idea , one I’ll look into. :)

After 6 months of owning and living with the C63 I’ve decided to have a change. The W204 C63 was, and is, a fantastic car and I never had a problem with mine. It averaged 20.2 mpg (actual not from the computer) over 2500 miles , and it didn’t chew through its tyres , hardly a MM of wear.

However it was becoming a bit of a garage lover, only venturing out when it was sunny at weekends. With winter never far away I was also planning on taking the car off the road. When I did find a bit of open road I found I rarely used much more than 4th gear and don’t think I ever got the box to Up shift automatically due to hitting the Rev limiter.

Something a bit more practical was needed and the Golf R has always been on my favourites list. Hearing that VW were dropping the 3 door I saw mine (6months old and just over 1000 miles) at a specialist car dealer who did me a PX I was happy with. Initially impressions are that the performance is no way shabb, feels glued to the road around the twisty bits, and has much less of a drink problem than the C63

I will miss the sound of starting the engine from cold and the soundtrack when the opportunity to open the car up presented itself. I’ve made some great friends owning the C63 and hope to keep in touch and continue meeting up.

Andy

PS I’m going to have to get those alloys repainted , IMO they don’t look right all black.

Oh no
6mths is just foreplay with these cars [emoji12]
I’m loving mine and though winter is coming I’m doing the Man Maths to get a quaiffe and 10mm wider tyres all round
Enjoy the golf, thankfully it does not have too many doors

Oh dear, you'll miss it. The Cupra 300 is a lot more fun to drive and quicker than the Golf. It just feels so much lighter on it's feet and turns in really well. Loads of equipment too.

Neither feel at all special to drive after the M156 though.

OMG :(:(:( What have you done Andy.

I have a feeling you will come to regret this, I've had a few cars that I regret selling (E39 M5, Renault Clio V6) and whenever I see one, it makes me wonder what the hell I was thinking at the time.

Be good to catch up again soon though. Hope the VW lives up to your expectations, at least you'll be spending less on fuel and tyres.

Regards Jim

Jim, Oh that’s a few nice motors there!

Andy, what’s your procedure for the autoglym fast glass? Whenever I use it I always have streaks afterwards

Ironic how we sell cars and then regret doing it.

Clio V6 - Great Car but felt like it needed another 100bhp. If i still had it now I'd have supercharged it. But at the time I couldn't afford to do that.

BMW M5 - At the time the later E60 V10 had come out, and I felt the E39 M5 was looking dated, now it's a classic and good ones are making big money.

Cosworth - I owned it for 12 years and it was very low mileage, but I'd gone as far as I could with it at the time (430bhp) and she was a garage queen and I needed something more usable and purchased the M5.

There are others too, but I didn't have pictures when I made my initial post....... TVR Tuscan - Always worried it was going to let me down mechanically...... But she never did, worth twice what I sold it for now.

Ahhhhhh.......... The life of a petrolhead.

Interested how you're getting on... I'm looking at going the other way. Had a R for 18 months and absolutely LOVED it. However, an increasing amount of interest in it from moped riding scrotes, including being followed a couple of times, led me to get rid.

Now looking for something more exciting but less of a target, and the W204 C63 is right up there. The sound of it is just so addictive, although it doesn't feel anywhere near as planted as the Golf and I love the way the Golf delivers its power.

What d'you miss about the C63 and what d'you prefer about the Golf?

I get a lot of interest in my car and sometimes it is from gangs of young lads but I have to say it has ALWAYS been positive attention whereas when I had my S3 it wasn't always positive. Peculiar that. Where do you live if you don't mind me asking?
