I just wanted to share my experience when I was driving in heavy snow last winter in my facelift W204 C63 and also to get people's thoughts.

Although I rarely drive in the snow, last winter, I ran into heavy snow storm.
With no fog lights on the car it was almost impossible to see where I was going despite dawdling at 20 mph as the bright HID lights on the car reflected off the snow. It was almost easier to see without any lights turned on! In comparison, other cars seemingly had no issues driving in the same condition and I was left for dead by other cars, which I think was down to these cars having halogen lights and fog lights.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? Whilst I prefer the look of facelift C63 without the fog lights, it is a pain and a safety issue when you are met with bad weather...

Can't say I've been that bothered I have fog lights on the c63

I too thought it was strange that the face lifted lacked fog lights. However, when you press the button for the rear fog lights the ILS Headlamps also changes pattern and you should be able to see the pattern changing. If I am right the headlamps move the beam pattern down and to the right mimicking fog lights.

I must admit haven't had a chance to try it myself in the fog.

I would imagine it's similar to switching high beam on in fog.

Switching on high beam in fog, just lights up the fog. Makes visibility worse.

Fog lights (front) point downwards and illuminate the edges that are less visible than usual.

Exactly, which is why HID lights are terrible in heavy snow.
Makes the car almost undrivable without fog lights in heavy snow.

This is why I decided against retrofitting DRLs on my preface. I use the fogs a lot to light up the near surface of dark roads.

I did consider the drls which have a cut out for the existing fogs and retain them but thought they really would look like stick on strips.

Forgot to mention, pressing the rear fog switch will also switch the DRL off as well.
