Has anyone done their own oil change on a W204 with the M271 engine.

Book says oil capacity is 5.5 L I've done a couple of oil changes now and if I vacuum out the oil and put a carefully measured 5.5 L back it comes to a little below half way on the dipstick. I'm not worried about running with this oil level as I'm doing very low miles between changes and it doesn't seem to burn any oil. I'm Just curious why the 5.5 L figure is so wrong as I reckon it would need a good 6.5 L to reach the full mark.

If nothing else it proves vacuum extraction gets all the oil out.

After adding 5.5L, run the engine to normal operating temperature, then switch off, wait 5 minutes, and check the level again?

Level is still low and I'm making this observation over many checks and two consecutive oil changes so there is no question that a 5.5 L fill is way short of the full mark. I suppose it's possible that the dip stick is not accurate and it's for that reason I'm not tempted to add more oil.
