W204 - Service Intervals

I think you will find that the onboard ASSYST is considered a driver's aid - what matters is not what ASSYST says, but what MB ESS says - and as long as ESS shows that the next service is due in 12 months or 13,000 miles, you're fine as far as MB and the warranty are concerned, and regardless of what ASSYST says. The dealer will always go with ESS and not ASSYST.

interesting thread this ... in answer to the orig question.. regardless of miles.. your car should be serviced every year ...especially if u have a service contract it must be done otherwise it negates the continuation warranty for MB,s free mechanical breakdown cover ...unless someone can advise otherwise.. ??.. so it doesn't matter if I do 4k or 9k a year ??!!...mine goes in for its B service on Monday.. so if anyone wants to know exactly what was done I can adv then... foxy52
.......should really just have said approx every 12 months if only low mileage .....if yr car does obscene amount of miles that may not be the case .. my dashboard display popped up and said along the lines of 10 days over service schedule.. mark u I had already booked it in but my local MB dealer has been so busy so couldnt do it until today.. he picked my car up at 09 20 today.. foxy52

So the issue will be if 9,000 miles are done before the year is over, you end up doing the service early.

How ever if it was 15,000 miles (as I thought it was) and 12 months comes first then no issue.

Hence knowing what is correct.
Had my yearly service done as per my service contract with main dealer .. twas the B one.. I only did 4000 miles in it over 12 months....... repl fluids Brake etc etc plus full MOT.... 50 odd quid on the day
:bannana:...peace of mind.. I like the full body/mech vehicle check by video link to..... foxy52

To update all (thank you for the valuable information)

The service was done at DDR Surrey, contacted them to explain the issue and ask what oil was used, they confirmed that it was 229.5. The Digital Service Record confirms the same.

DDR confirm that they entered in ASSYST 229.5 also and it should show 15k interval. They asked me to bring it back. It was hooked up to Star where they found that the oil "default" was set at 229.3. They think in the past one of the garage must have set this and it over ruled the assyst choice.

They reset the default to 229.5, no change in service interval, how ever after 2nd attempt the car accepted and the interval changed to 15k.

It seems to be fine now.
