Have done some investigations into my Parking Sensors issue, and it appears that they all work and I get the necessary indications on the forward and aft eyebrows from all sensor positions.

I do only get however get an audible warning sporadically, but more often than not only from Port Forward sensors (thats front left to the non-nautical types!).

This would indicate to me that there is a wiring issue as opposed to a sensor out? Anyone agree with this? And where exactly is the beeper?

Another thing is, compared to my soon to be outgoing Galaxy, they are not particularly sensitive. The Galaxy's sensors are so sensitive they beep in differing time zones when parking. What is the CLK supposed to be like?

Thanks in advance guys

All the best

Having had a few nightmares with my R171 SLK I can tell you a few things about parking sensors...

1. They do break- I went through 5 on mine, mostly damaged after periods of sudden temperature change. Once they were removed we cut them open and discovered water damage inside. The replacement sensors had a slightly different design, so clearly this was an issue!

2. Sometimes, but rarely, sticking them on STAR and resetting the errors cures it for a few months.... but the error will return...

3. The wiring looms sometimes go brittle. Part of my issue was (again) water into a wiring loom....

4. If you're going to replace them yourself, go easy on the paint. Should only require a few light coats and a lacquer....

Hi,
The system on your CLK is identical to my AMG and I find it is very accurate, I can accuratly reverse to within a few inches of another car, I think to pinpoint this fault you,ll need to get it plugged into STAR this should be able to interrogate the system check all the sensors individually, and if there is any issue with any other parts of the system.

Thank you both - I will look into that next week after I have moved house today and tomorrow.

Is plugging it in to the STAR expensive generally? I mean actually doing it not the fall out from it!

Cheers
