Hi all,
Yesterday while removing my oil filer cap I noticed that the paint / plastic lamination surrounding it was peeling off. I don't believe any
has dropped into the engine itself and I removed the loose bits so they shouldn't.

However, I was wondering if anybody else has had this happen.
If worst case a small piece did fall into the engine, would it be much to worry about? I imagine it would soon get broken up and find it's way to
the filter anyway?

Thanks...

230k engine?

Yes :) How did you guess?

Is there anything you suggest I do about it?

Worst case, if some flakes did fall into the engine, is it really likely to be anything to get excited about?

Thanks...

Its not really a problem TBH.

If you are worried just remove the rocker cover and re-paint it.

I'm not really bothered cosmetically.

Just concerened that should any flakes fall into the engine, that it may cause harm.

In fairness I'm probably being silly as I imagine providing the piece wasn't massive (and if it was would probably be broken into tiny pieces) and caught by the filter.

Dont warry about it mate... you could tip a load of paint flakes in and I doubt it would do anything, as they are soft enough to melt and be absorbed by the oil and filter, or just burn off. However if there was some metal parts fallen in like a nut or washer then possiblt this could block a channel and cause an issue, but paint ?naaargh. :)
