Having discovered the electrical gremlins are due to a faulty driver's door module on my CLK, I have sourced one on Ebay with the same numbers as mine except for mine is marked R and Q2 in a circle and the intended replacement is marked R and Q1. Does anybody know what the difference is please?
All the other numbers on the unit are identical.

Hi.
I have exactly the same problem as above and and indeed as discussed here http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/electronics/131064-clk-w208-2002-electrical-problems.html
However, my independent technician has done everything proposed in the previous thread and also changed the module but the problem still exists.
Don't know what to do!. Any suggestions?

Hi. That's interesting. I just assumed that because it all started working after the garage had messed around inside the driver's door it had to be the door module, but the problem is still there, so perhaps I won't bother changing the door module. Have you ever lost the wipers, indicators and horn as well? It only did it once when the wife was driving. the window and mirror I can live with but it's a bit more serious when the indicators pack up, especially as I'm driving down to southern Spain from France in 3 weeks. Would be interested if you get yours fixed.

Current cars: 2002 W208 230K CLK, 1992 W124 300 CE, 1997 W202 250TD Estate( Sadly in the garage due to wifes accident)

The Q marking is the software version. Q2 newer than Q1. There is no record I have seen that shows what the differnces are, just occasionally the service builletins say "check, and replace modules before Qx )

Hi. Yesterday everything stopped working indicators, horn, central locking, wipers, etc. it is being investigated at present. Apparently problem lies at the ignition switch/CANBUS system. Will keep you posted.

Yes please do. I've given up on mine at the moment as I managed to move the seat back last week when it was working in readiness for our journey from France down to southern Spain. Since then it hasn't worked until today when my wife said the windows and seats are working again. It's been 30 degrees here the last few days so thank !!!! for the aircon.

Well my independent engineer has confirmed to me that the problem lies with ignition/CAN BUS. It is a costly repair, one that I cannot afford at the moment. Luckily everything came back on earlier this week but the driver’s seat, window and door mirror have stopped again. I am driving around town only. The thing that started everything working again was disconnecting the battery and resetting it. How long this will last is another question. By the way my car has covered over 103,000 miles and I am pleased to say all trouble free till now.

Thanks for the information. A car dealer friend in UK did say to me that the rule normally is to disconnect the battery overnight and then reconnect it but I was concerned that something else might pack up. That's probably why when I disconnected the SAM unit and door module everything starts working cos it thinks the battery has been disconnected. I am now beginning to believe that the lovely old scotsman I bought the car from in France probaly knew of the problem and took the battery off the night before I collected the car. I don't know for sure. Let me know how long yours works for. Thanks again and if ever in the south of France pop in.

Hi..
Did you ever get solution to the door, window, seat problem as mine seems to do the same thing...
The short fix is to disconnect the wires in the sill area and then re connect them..

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris.

I never did sort the issue out or get the bottom of it. I lived with it for 2 plus years. Each time I got in the car, I had to fiddle around with fuses. Finally part ex'd it few months back. The dealer who bought it said he knew of the problem and knew how to fix it. Otherwise it was a fantastic car. 112,000 miles and still sweet running. I do miss it. :(

I hope you can sort it.

Merry Christmas and New Year

Thanks for that..
I've replaced my SAM with one with matching numbers and I'm crossing my fingers...
If I ever find the solution I'll post it..!!
