Been advised by Mercedes that I need a new module.

Part number is A2088201126

Can anyone help?

Cheers
Nathan

Ouch! According to the Inchcape site that module costs £662.70!

If I were you I'd get a second opinion as to whether it needs replacing.

Don't dive in and buy a new one just yet.
Who advised you that you need a new one?

I had a fault with mine... dead. I feared the worse for a while.
Some checking by me revealed that there is a relay fitted to the pump unit. It is the same relay as fitted for the fuel pump near the battery. Swap them over and try again... the roof worked but the car would not start... bought a new relay and it's been fine ever since.

Other thanEbay where they do come up from time to time.

What is wrong the punp or the motor

The headrests wont go up / down. Error codes come up to say there is no power to RVS control unit, but no fuses are blown, so Merc were saying it prob needs a new unit. Not convinved myself, but I figured if I can get one at a reasonable price, would be a good thing to try...

Thanks - this sounds like a worthwhile thing to try. Do you remember if the headrests still functioned correctly when you had the problem?

I think that is a suck it and see situation and the dealer is not sure, I will have a look later in the info, i take it it is a 208365 car

Its a W208 320 from 2000. This is what the dealer was saying - they werent sure, and wanted to try it. However, the entire job comes to >£1000 so I would prefer to fix myself if I can get the parts I need.

Someone with an X431 (not MB) read the codes for me. They tell me that these are the error codes that come up:

B1644 – pump temperature
B1000 – 002 : no internal supply voltage to RVC
B1123
B1646

I got the impression from MB that the B1000 code is what makes them think the unit is dead, but they seemed very vague about it - implication being they didn't really know...

OK do what I can,, the number 208365 is the first 6 VIN numbers I hope. Out for a bit, come back later

The rear head resraints are SAM operated and the pump is on when they are

B1347 is for head restraints taking too long

My info says that "rear head rest do not retract, and pump motor does not start up, then the coding is incorrect"

"head restraints do not retract even though the pump runs, then the fault is in the head restraints"

It say that the head rest retract when RHR switch is operated thats switch S6/1 1s3 have not found that yet.

This reminds me of my Comfort seats that did not work.

I got 3 diag checks done, they all said = leak in drivers seat,, I though it odd at the time as the pump did not attempt to run, and my thinking was, well it must run for a time before it would stop. I took the whole seat to bits and blew them up with a small compressor and the seat stayed up for 3 days.

So I went back and complained and they let me into the workshop and we went through STAR ,, I said to the guy why dont we turn them off and activate them again. OK he said and went to the menu and found that they were not turned on,, needless to say I drove home in Comfort seats

Mmmm.. you have me thinking now. The rear headrests on my car never do anything unless I operate them using the switch on the dash. When the roof was dead I have to admit I did not try them.

I'm offshore at the moment (a couple of Islands away from Bali, Indonesia near a Newmont Copper/Gold mine) so I don't have all the info to hand, but my roof went from totally dead to fully operational by swapping out the relay which cost about 12 Euros if I remember correctly. Buy one, swap it out and see. It may not work but at that price it's worth a shot.

Its slightly different for the cabriolet - the head restraints are actually part of the roll bar system (RB)

hi all just seen this thread - did you get the car roof sorted?
To reset the roof and thing you ideally need the car to go on a STAR to find any lucking error codes.

Hi,

I took it to the local MB dealers, but they weren't very convincing on whether they had tried to reset the codes or not...

Going to try taking the module out over the weekend and see if I can see anything clearly wrong with it. Do you know where the codes are stored - are they in the roof module itself, or in a different control module somewhere?

I wondered if disconnecting and reconnecting might be enough to kick it back into action...

is the module you are talking about in the rear of the car, next to the pump on the drive side?
