Okay, this is a bit hard to describe but bear with me.

Somehow, the covers for the end of the rear window surrounds, near where it meets the doors, have come off my 2001 CLK. This means its possible to put your finger in the hole and can't be good from water ingress perspective. I'm not sure how they've come off - maybe during high pressure cleaning or something - but I know they are supposed to be there as I've seen them on other CLKs.

I've attached a picture so hopefully you can see what I'm talking about.

Anyone know if they are an easy replacement part to get hold of, and also if there is a way of fixing them in more securely so they don't come out again?

Thanks in advance!

Andy

Hi Andy

Did you ever find a solution to this? If you did, I'd be very intersted to hear as I have the same issue with my 2001 CLK.

Thanks
Jason

I have the same problem on the drivers side of my '98 CLK. The dealership quoted me about £85 + VAT  to replace the complete rear window trim. Seems excessive just to get the little plastic cap back !
I declined.........Might try a breakers next.

Thanks for the responses guys!

I never heard anything back from this which is a shame. It's annoying that the stealers can't supply the end caps, as they are obviously a different part to the window surround unit as otherwise they wouldn't come off.

Anyone know which supplier makes these parts? Maybe we could go to them directly?

Andy, we could try an email or letter to Mercedes. If enough CLK owners are experiencing this problem....... Jim

It looks like the cabrio may have more separate parts in that area, how about the coupe owners check out the cabs - see if something can be adapted to fit?

gents,

i have a similar problem, regarding the rear window where it tapers in to the rear wheel arch, it was originally only on the passenger side and now i've noticed the same problem on the drivers side, do you need to get the rubber trim bacl inside the metal outer trim.

any advise on what to do would be appreciated.

Alrighty, this is excellent, thanks very much Shude!

According to this website (http://wwwsg.daimlerchrysler.com/Projects/wi/cda/etpl?ETNR=&from=query&etpl_lang=), part number 23 should cost €1.52, which is pretty reasonable. Might be time to call the dealer with a part number...
So it'll be about £1.20 or something then. If that IS the item then you know your stealership was being lazy, there is a good chance that the item is a clip or something though!

The fact that according to your diagram calls part 23 a 'block' gives me confidence that its not a clip. Will see what the stealers say!
