Hello, anyone know how I can add an amp to my CLK w209 Audio 20? I upgraded the speakers which are much clearer but the bass seems to have suffered a bit.

What I would really like to do is amplify all the speakers and add a low profile sub on the back shelf (same place as the Bose one). I read somewhere that an amp can be connected to the MOST fibre optics but googling MOST and amplifier just gets to (most powerful amplifier).

Any info of make and model of a suitable amp and sub would be much appreciated.

Sorry to resurrect a dead thread but did you ever manage to get a good subwoofer for the car?

I'm getting similar search results too.

In short no.

I did add MB Quart QSD 164 to the door rears and that was enough for me. Well it was until I found a cheap JL sub on eBay and stuck it in the boot in a most unsatisfactory way!

A year late but here is what I did..........

1. Upgaded audio 20 to command Satnav. Programmed so the display cluster can see it. Don’t forget to ask for the mobile phone to be recognised as well. Useful for iPod integration.
2. Added IPod. Any kit with part B6 7 82 4252 (iPod Control Unit) will do and B7 8 82 4237 (cable loon) Just plugs into back of Command unit.
3. Added JL AUDIO XD600/6 600 6 CH CHANNEL CLASS D AMP crossovers and amp screwed to board and located in left side of boot.
4. swapped out front rear door speakers/tweeters with MB Quart QSC 216 and MB Quart QSD 164
5. Didn’t really need it but added JL Audio 12" Sub-Woofer 12W0 in a sub box held down with Velcro rattling around in the boot.

All I need to do now is track down the vibration in the passenger door and it will be perfect.

Thanks for revisiting this.

quick question: Does the audio 20 unit have any RCA/sub out sockets?

No, you will need to use a hi level convertor if your amp does not have a speaker level input.
That's the cheap way, the expensive and obviously better quality way is to get the MOST pre amp solution. (providing your car has MOST)
