CLK 220 CDI Sport
Hi all,
Have had my CLK 11 weeks now and it's not a fully fledged AMG machine, or perhaps with the very best of engines, I am absolutely in love with this car :bannana:.
Only niggle I have is the Audio20, I got the Oasis spec from the dealer and it states: 523Audio 20 CD/Radio - single CD drive (MP3 compatible), 8 speakers, 5-in
Well the Single CD is not MP3 compatible and it hasn't got the CD Changer, I do have the Aux Port in the glove box. There is no Bluetooth so I had the dealer fit a Parrot unit which is fine.
Questions I have are:
1. Can the Aux port be changed to a USB Port?
2. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced replacement for the Audio 20 that (a) Plays MP3 from disc (b) Includes SatNav (c) integrates with Steering wheel controls (d) Cover Bluetooth.
At the moment I have an FM Transmitter with an 8Gb SD Card that works ok, but is awkward if I need to plugin my TomTom and the Parrot device is ok but would prefer something more integrated.

I realise this has probably been covered before, but most of the posts seem to relate to the W208 model.

Thanks in advance of any advice out there.

The Audio 20 will play MP3's, but only through the CD changer in the glove box. You could source one on E-Bay or Halfords are advertising a satellite radio system for £149 that fits the audio 20 and uses the steering wheel controls, apparently?

(I use a Bury CC9060 hands free kit, which plays MP3's from the phone through the Audio 20 & a Tomtom.)

Thanks guys, the mCar interface looks good but I figure for that money I should be able to pick up an aftermarket unit from Halfords. CD Changers seem hard to come by on eBay, does anyone no another source for these?
Alternatively, does anyone know what command unit I can fit as a direct replacement for the Audio20. I have looked on CommandOnline but struggle with all the different variants and compatibility to work out what can/can't be done.
Unfortunately I am a bit of a knob with car audio since the old days of single din plug and play!

You can upgrade to Comand NTG2 which will give you sat nav. With the mCar interface above it will cover your needs - mp3 playback from usb port and bluetooth phone.

Sorry bout that mis-read the 2nd answer doh!

Have been looking around and seen a couple of different options for aftermarket OEM replacements:
1. Dynavin DVN-MBC (Dynavin DVN-MBC For Mercedes Benz C Class )
2. Benz W209 OEM replacement (Mercedes Benz CLK W209 DVD GPS Player With Tmc)

Questions:
Are these really plug and play and do they actually fit correctly (saw a video on the Dynavin suggesting that the lugs and some of the trim needs to be cut away to fit a 220CDI)
If fitted will the steering wheel controls for the phone work or is an additional CAN-Bus adaptor needed.
I have seen quite a bit online about the different connection types (fibre/MOST etc), does anyone know what type I have or how to establish the differences?

Have also considered getting halfords to install the Alpine CDE-W235BT, again not sure if the phone steering wheel controls will work with the appropriate CAN-Bus
Any additional help appreciated.
Thanks
Barry

The Dynavin is designed for a W203 C class so doesnt fit the CLK properly as the CLK audio units arent exactly the same shape and size.

Yes a can-bus steering interface is needed with an aftermarket stereo to retain steering controls.

Hey npuk, do you know and can you explain the different connection types for the audio (MOST,Fibre etc) ?

Update
Been checking and it looks like pre-facelift had D2B Fibre and Post has MOST with Quadlock. So on that basis I assume my car has the MOST with Quadlock
Am I right?

Seems all the threads i search has 80% of the info i need then it stops just before the punchline decider.. I have. 240 (02) and i want all the same things as the threadstarter.. Id love to revive the thread and get help...

Im sure there are others that need help on this...

1. No but you can add a mCar interface or NTG2 ipod kit: Comand Online Ltd :: Mercedes iPod solutions :: C (last model), CLC & CLK class (W203/W209)

2. You can upgrade to Comand NTG2 which will give you sat nav. With the mCar interface above it will cover your needs - mp3 playback from usb port and bluetooth phone.

Or you will have to go aftermarket.

Just looking at a comand unit on ebay at the moment, so where does the USB plug in to? or what cable is needed?

MERCEDES W209 CLK NAVIGATION COMAND APS GENUINE DVD SAT NAV EXCELLENT CONDITION | eBay

I presume that the sat nav disc would be occupying the drive, & I have no changer...

If this is anything like the Comand in my E class the nav disk is in a separate drive in the boot. Only the later NTG2.5 units are all in one devices.
In someone will be along shortly to put us straight.

Hmm... I don't know, I am totally clueless when it comes to the comand units...

As it's plug & play for usual features minus satnav & steering button controls, I was thinking just to buy a unit & fit it for cosmetic purposes, but I know that it'd bug me that I could of set up the sat nav with gps antenna, so I would probably end up taking the whole thing apart again to install the antenna.. So might as well do it all at once.

Option 2 is to go for an aftermarket unit (pioneer or something that maybe runs on android??) to get many more features, I presume cost wise - it would be similar...

I really want the unit to look 'as oem as possible' so it must blend in with the rest of the interior.... That's my little OCD obsession kicking in..

Im seriously starting to consider a Dynavin, any recommendations to the best fitting & performing unit for a W209 CLK Facelift?

Buy an after-market unit and the fitting kit. It will be cheaper, more reliable and sound better than any of these Chinese copies.
The only thing you'll lose is the dash display of radio stations, but you'll keep the steering wheel controls (with the correct adapter)
You can get a double-din JVC with DAB, USB input, iPod control - AND the trim kit - AND the control / loom adapters for < £200 all in.

A part of me says go down the aftermarket route, but I really want to maintain the OEM look, & so far I haven't come across a unit that sits perfectly - this may be a case of crafting a custom enclosure though....

It's always difficult when the oem units are awkwardly shaped.
