W209: Bose or HK?

How do I know whether I have the BOSE or Harman Kardon option? Or indeed neither as the case may be.

Is it possible to check the spec from the VIN or something?

I can't imagine them being fitted without having their logo or name in view for everyone to see.

I have the Bose upgrade in mine (a 2002 W209) and there is a Bose logo on one of the speakers on the rear parcel shelf. I'm not sure why it's only on one, maybe the other came off.

I also have the COMAND system, and this then gives you a further option to tailor the sound. If you select the "Sound" option on screen, there is then a "Fix Sound Settings" option at the bottom, which I believe you don't have without the Bose set-up. Not sure how you access this if you don't have COMAND though.

I think HK may have been an option on later cars. Certainly Bose was the only option when mine was new.

Funny that, I have the same Bose option in my rear parcel shelf and only have once logo as well on the passenger side rear!

Mine is a 2003 and I think Bose was the only option.

Check your datacard, if you dont have it ask the dealer for one. It will show all the options on your car.

AFAIK HK was introduced with the facelifted W209.

HK is imprinted on the rear speakers in my W209.

I had Bose in my 2002 CLK500 and HK in my 2005 CLK55.. In the CLK55 I had a sub between the rear seats with a HK badge on it.... The CLK500 Speakers were badged Bose..
Just my opinion but the Bose setup was far better...

I've got HK on my 211 and you can see it in the COMAND audio set options too - you can choose between several settings inc Factory, Voice and HK Logic 7.1
