W209 Gear wont shift

Gear box problem with my W209 CLK 2005 model
changed transmission oil Wednesday 02/08
same transmission problem a week ago any help or suggestion /repair cost will be appreciated.

Is it stuck in a gear from starting? Do you have reverse? Sounds like the electroplate is gone. The speed sensor fails and sticks in gear to prevent damage

Did you have the same symptoms before the fluid was changed? - I'm just wondering if some of those are misleading because they're stored from some point in the past, or if they are current.

I had the 2767 dtc on my 2006 CLK280 with 7G gearbox in 2015.

It required a new electroplate at an indy fitted cost of £700 (new MB part, including the required online coding to the car - its a 'theft-related' part).

My 2006 car has the second generation valve chest/control (VGS2), which allows for an electroplate to be swapped. I believe the first generation (VGS) requires the valve chest and electroplate to be swapped as a unit which is approx double the price.

If you post up your VIN, then forum members can look up your car's datacard to see which VGS it has.

The good(ish) news is that switching the ignition off and on temporarily allows the gearbox to change normally again, often lasting weeks/months til the fault recurs.

Definitely the electroplate. If you can get the codes cleared it will run for a short time and then go back into limp.

The good news is that Option A28, I believe, indicates a VGS 2 valve body/electroplate.
Anyway, the data card for my W209 has the same entry.

My copy of EPC shows the same number for the electroplate in your car as given by Bob6600 above, i.e. A 000 270 26 00. There is a footnote against it - '697 - part is only or also supplied as a reconditioned part'

Now you need to find someone with the required skills and equipment to replace it.

There is a cheap option available - it involves removing your electroplate and posting it to Bulgaria for repair. As its the same plate, it doesn't need recoding when refitted.

How much do they charge in Bulgaria to repair it please and may I have the details Thanks.

It was these people, Softelectronics in Varna, that I found in 2015: Repair and auto programming computers, unlocking car navigations repair trucks

Pricing was about £160 in 2015.

They came up again in this thread, but note the absence of affirmation from Olly at PCS (BlackC55)

I thought it was a bit risky, so opted for the local indy route. My other problem was what to do with the car whilst the plate was out for a few days. My repair job was a drop off in the morning and collect same afternoon.



The ECU Testing approach looks identical, they also seem to have good reviews, perhaps other forum members can relay any experiences with them.
