Hi, my W210 220cdi estate 6 speed manual is notchy in 2nd and 4th .Its now got 238k KM , and I wondered is an expensive gearbox to repair/restore to new shifting feel . Is it possible to fix individual gear positions or am I talking nonsense? I have not a clue about gearboxes but fear spending money on other items and then discover I have rebuild the gearbox too. It's not bad but I notice and the clutch is a bit worn in 1st with the pedal also taking time to spring up again when pushed though this is a separate problem to do with a hydraulic pump item I think . Looking at these issues can anyone comment on the cost, nature of the rebuild etc . Just had to repair the fuel pump at 370euro (the garage rebuilt it apparently. (instead of the donor MB part at 600euro) .
I just worry the gear shifts will get worse quickly and I will be sorry I didn't sell it on and avoid more bills . The garage says the auto boxes don't last either though so I don't know !
