Just taken a W210 E200K estate back in that's just come back off Lease and it would appear from the fuel computer to have an average fuel consumption of 16mpg:crazy:

What would effect fuel conumption on this engine, ie the 2.0 Kompressor.....Lambda Sensor?

Any thoughts or clues

Have noticed that its got the commonly found split on the exhaust manifold...very slight....surely this wouldn't effect the fuel consumption or would it as its ahead of the lambda sensor.

It could do as the sensor will see a weak mixture.

Possible driver error and the type of driving as well.

Re driver error...even when I zero the computer and then do @ 20 miles driving with a very light foot, I'm struggling to get 20mpg.

Does not appear to be running rich and no smell of fuel from exhaust or from general area surrounding the car.

Vlad , could it just be that because it's such a weedy engine its working doubley hard to pull a big old bus like that around ?

Is the trip computer accurate?

CLogged up airfilter?

Although that should impact on the driving experience as well...

Weedy?.......163bhp...almost as much as the 2.6 V6 which has 170bhp...never found the 2.0 Kompressor w210's short of puff.

Driving wise its absolutely spot on, apart from the blow in the manifold and its just been serviced.....I hadn't noticed the supposed hideous fuel consumption when I put the car in for a service.

How does the fuel computer work...does it measure fuel flow? or does it measure it in a more scientific way?
