Does anybody know if they actually have one ??

Doing a gearbox refill and can't find the plug to drain it and I have turned it about 3 times

If it hasn't got one, then what's the best way of getting all the old oil out ?

Hi,

the W210 (facelifted one) doesn't have the drain plug anymore. You can only drain a part of the transmission, the rest remains in the torque converter.
If you want to drain all, you need to e.g. drain 1L via the cooler, refill 1L a couple of times. Downside to this is that you will also drain 'fresh' fluid in this way.

Cheers, thought I was going blind

got 3.2 ltrs out of the sump

done the cooler bit, by filling with 2 litres and then undoing the n/s cooler pipe and starting the engine - 1.3 ltrs came out.

Filled up with what came out in total, ie used 4.5 ltrs, so 4.5lts was put in.

Will give it a few days and will drain the sump again and re-fill (no a problem as got hold of 9ltrs of MB ATF for £45). The reason for this is that I can not find any evidence (old invoices etc) that it has ever been done and it's now at 191500 miles ;) so I thought that it was about due :)

After the second drain I'll take it into the dealers for them to check the level for me.

Mark probably cheaper to but the stick unless they check it for nowt.

I'll have a quiet word with the parts guys, as I have a good relationship with them, and see if they can get one of the techs to quickly do it ;)
