W210 Facelift Torque Convertor Drain Plug

Does anybody know if they actually have one ??

Doing a gearbox refill and can't find the plug to drain it and I have turned it about 3 times

If it hasn't got one, then what's the best way of getting all the old oil out ?

Hi,

the W210 (facelifted one) doesn't have the drain plug anymore. You can only drain a part of the transmission, the rest remains in the torque converter.
If you want to drain all, you need to e.g. drain 1L via the cooler, refill 1L a couple of times. Downside to this is that you will also drain 'fresh' fluid in this way.

Cheers, thought I was going blind

got 3.2 ltrs out of the sump

done the cooler bit, by filling with 2 litres and then undoing the n/s cooler pipe and starting the engine - 1.3 ltrs came out.

Filled up with what came out in total, ie used 4.5 ltrs, so 4.5lts was put in.

Will give it a few days and will drain the sump again and re-fill (no a problem as got hold of 9ltrs of MB ATF for £45). The reason for this is that I can not find any evidence (old invoices etc) that it has ever been done and it's now at 191500 miles so I thought that it was about due

After the second drain I'll take it into the dealers for them to check the level for me.
