I'm currently looking for a W210 around 1999 to 2001 and would like to know if the climate control is worth having. Do you have it and like it or dislike it? Is it reliable or troublesome?

I have been looking for a good one with climate, but have found this to be very difficult. Should I give up and go for regular AC?

I have regular AC in mine and if it worked it would be great :o

The heater is furnace-like though, especially if you have a new thermostat ;)

Hi Ringway,
Thanks for your replies.

Do you know why it doesn't work? Have you got any ideas about how to test AC in cold weather?

One of the belts has snapped.
A job for the spring time. ;)

I have climate control in my Omega but I wouldn't say there is much difference between that and aircon.
With climate control you can watch the numbers though, if you like that sort of thing that is

I had Climate in my E280 (W210) and currently have air-con in the CLK.

In theory its easier to control the temp via the digital display on the climate control but in all honesty i couldn't see/feel any difference at all.

Climate looks better though IMHO

I have climate in my C240, it is pretty handy, leave it at 22C and just let it do the rest. Open the window, fan speed (and temp) goes up, close it and it returns to normal, pretty cool. Quite a set and forget item.

Seymansey says it all. The great boon of climate control is never having to adjust temperature or fan speed, it does it all for you. My CL500 is set to 22 degrees and I never touch it, it is always just right.

I think my CLK W208 has the same climate control as a W210. The dual zone climate is great if you often have a passenger. Also the climate will maintain a set temperature, whilst the air-con is a simple on/off switch, which you then manually adjust with the hot-cold air mix.........I believe.
Being a premium car I would hope the W210 would have climate rather than air-con, but like you're finding, second-hand buyers can't always chose their car's spec exactly........good luck.

Yep climate excellent, wifes c class has some sort of middle off the road betweeen climate and a/con and its rubbish:( .

It is quite difficult if you want to just check it on the drive etc - but if its raining, put the heater onto full and sit in the car with the engine running. If the windows mist up, it's not working/not working properly. Climate will keep the windows from misting by dehumidifiying the incoming air

Climate is nice but the back light tends to fail meaning you can't really see which button to press at night, with the dials it's a lot easier to remember what does what.

Anyone know how to fix the back light?

Climate control on a 210 works really well, as others have said you just set the temperature and forget it.

The unit pops out, you need the MB removal keys, I think they are the same as the radio ones. You'll find an opening at the rear for a bulb.

Is there a lower temperature limit below which air conditioning ceases to function?

I remember on VW's the A/C function switches off below about 7C.

Climate control on my Omega will work no matter how cold it is.

I know that because I run my aircon and climate contols at least once a month for a short period as per manufacturers instructions.

Omega has an eco button (climate control off) but you still adjust the temp with the digits.

Running with eco button uses less fuel ;)

Is that necessarily a good thing?

Omega has an eco button (climate control off) but you still adjust the temp with the digits.

but the set temperature may not be possible, if for example the exterior temp is hotter than the interior and you're asking for the interior to get colder

Suzy Cute here, my personal view is that it all depends on where it blows!!!!!! :bannana:
