right i have changed the maf and it runs alot better.........BUT!!

it still cuts the power off if i go above 3.5 to 4k?????????

would it be the GAP in the plugs? i changed them when i got it does anyone know what gap they should be?
would it be the BAS light? i changed the servo
would it be the ESP light?
would it be the battery? i changed that when i got it but its not a mercedes one.

the last 3 faults were, ESP & BAS also "can comunication".

any help is greatly recieved

Does you car have cruise control fitted? If so the speed limiter may have been set.

New plugs don't usually need to be gapped these days. Why did you change the servo?

A non genuine battery won't make any difference unless it is not the same rating. Even so I doubt it would stop the car from going over 3500rpm.

ESP and BAS faults are usually associated with the brake light switch or wheel speed sensors. You need to get it plugged in on STAR to be sure.

it does have cruise control but how do i check if its set or not? the amber light isn't "on" on the stalk.

it was the servo sender for the bas and the wheel speed sensor also brake switch.

i will rule out the plugs but check the battery's power output. i was told it was the same but i'll check.

how do i reset the ecu? i normally unplug the battery on previous cars but not sure with mercs.

i had it on the star at MB and main fualts were "air intake temp sensor and MAF" also going from my memory as my wife isnt answering her phone
there is a fault with the "can communication" not recieving- something to do with low voltage???? thats why i thought battery. i'll check later when i get back from work exactly what it was

right got the codes:

C1022 - Fault in can communication with control
B1010 - supply voltage of the control unit
B1147 - output terminal 15 has short circuit.

Ignore those codes. Fault codes in this instance won't help unless they are "current". What are you using to read the codes?

Quite often generic code readers will not pull all of the codes.

Have you had a look at the live data?

Are thses codes in the engine control unit?

pass - these are the codes that were on the print out from MB when i took it in for a diagnostic.

i only put those on here incase i solve it and someone else ever has the problem.

i disconnected the battery this morning for few minutes and then put back also done lock to lock about 5 times as someone on here suggested it? still have BAS, ESP and Anti lock light come on and still have this REV problem. anyone got ideas?

A broken abs ring (usually on one of the rear hubs) would do all that.

sorry to be a nob but if it is broken would that not send a fault code? my brother who has his own workshop spoke to MB to get a price, they said it has not got a abs ring but there is a sensor on the rear hub? is that what you meant? again sorry for being a nob!

Each rear hub has a ring, which is picked up by a sensor. The rings rust and break off. Mine was welded back on by my indie. your car has rings on all four hubs. If the ring is broken and can't be repaired it will need a new hub...£600. But this site supplies replacements: ABS Reluctor Rings for many modern cars

But all that only matters if the ring is broken. A fault code will not be displayed unless you mean on a STAR machine.

i took my car to MB which i believe is the STAR?

i'll have to have a look now at the wknd as im too bust during the week.

it drives nice but just holds back when cold or at 4k.

AND what do you mean by INDIE?

Did you solved that problem? I have the same problem, but with an w140 S500, 1997, with ESP, at 3500 rpm is acting like a rev limiter

Hi Adrian, I got rid shortly after the numerous problems I had but it ended up selling off!!! Turned out it was a crashed performance chip in the ECU which one restored to factory settings it ran fine afterwards.

I changed the ECU, but the problem is still there.
