Hi,

My N/S Xenon light has stopped working. They are factory fitted from when car was built.

I got my GF to turn light on and off and I stood by the lights. The N/S light give a loud electrical crack/buzz for 2 short zaps then the noise stops. O/S light works fine as do all other lights.

I guess this is going to be due to either the ballast or bulb.

Can anyone help me identify what i need to replace r should I do ballast and bulb.

In terms of the ballast when I look on Ebay I see many different part numbers. Are they all compatible as long as from facelift model ?

My car is W210 E320 CDI 2001 Avantgarde.

Regards

Hi,
Swap the parts from the working headlight to the non-working headlight.
Start with the lamps, then the ballast and the ignitor.
Xenon bulbs should be replaced as pairs, about £100ea from MB, £45-50ea from Euros, or E-bay for less than £20 delivered for a pair, I think you need D2R type bulbs with a temp of 4300k, below is a link to a pair of D2R Bulbs, I have used the supplier and can reccomend them quick delivery too.
2x REPLACEMENT XENON HID Bulbs D2R 4300k MINI COOPER/S | eBay

Check out Amazon for car bulbs, cheap xenons @£19 delivered and with the security of shopping with Amazon!

That is VERY cheap ......worth buying and keeping as a spare set. Not much more than a set of good halogens !

Remember D2S for the 202 If memory serves.

Hey Andy,

My car is W210 facelift, was registered end April 2002 but all the parts I have bought has always been a pain as they are sold as 99-01. I put 01 to tie in with this. Log book shows as 02 :-/

Confusing I know.

So should I order D2R or D2S blulbs ?

I'm in a different country to car right now so cant even check by taking the bulb out !

Andy, thanks for the heads-up about that mate. Very cheap indeed & good value if you say you've used them & they work fine. I checked my (hooky) copy of EPC to check they're right for my car (S210 E320 year 2000) & I'm a bit confused, can you decipher the listings/descriptions for me please mate so I know if I get these off ebay they're right? :
'N910 139 000000 - Gas Discharge lamp - low beam - DR2 - 12v-35w.
It's the last bit that confuses me - I thought 12v-35w is refering to 'normal' bulbs? But the coded footnote refers to: Code 617 - Xenon H/lamp L/H traffic, which is right for my vehicle & that same Code 617 is written in my data card, & the vehicle does physically have factory fitted zenons' in it. Your thoughts please mate?
And for the high beam it lists:
'N400809 000007 - Bulb - H7 - 12v-55w' . Don't H7's refer to halogen? Is it only the low beam that's xenon?
Sorry for the essay & thanks !

In the case of the 210, 202, and 208, its only the dipped beam that is Xenon, the Xenon bulb is only 35W, if you only had Halogen dipped beam the bulbs would be 55W.
wattage is not an indication of the bulbs brightness but only of the power it consumes.

Nice one Andy - Thanks mate :)

Remember D2S for the 202 If memory serves.

Incorrect its D2R for W140, W202, W210, W208 & pre facelift W220

As LawrenceMB says if it is the low beam the correct part number is N910 139 000000 if you wish to buy from MB
