Ok another prob for my new merc but not the last I suspect lol
Both rear windows go down no problem but when you try and put them back up they dont go back up you need to keep pushing the button repeatedly until they go up bit by bit at every press. I have read some of the repair threads on this but want to check this is what I need before i start gathering parts plus its cold outside

cheers in advance

Ok, when they are fully down press and hold the window switch until you hear a click,
now fully close the window and do the same with the switch, that window will now be
reset,do the same for other windows.

Sounds like at some point the battery was removed and the windows were not re-initialised.

You only get one go once battery is reconnected so you need to:

Disconnect and reconnect the battery
Turn on ignition or start the car
Press and hold the window switch "down" for each window in turn until it is all the way down
Press and hold the window switch lightly (to manually close the window) until the window is fully up, then press button fully in for a second or two and it's done. If you press the window switch fully before it is initialised, it operates the 'auto' function which will not work until this procedure is done

Do this for each window

Also note your ABS light will come on the dash, turn steering from lock to lock, it will disappear

Abs light and a few other warnings already on but thats for another thread

Will get the battery disconnected tonight after work any idea how lCheers should be left off for just a quick off and on or off for 5-10 mins

Cheers I love a cheap and easy fix lol

No need to disconnect the battery...you do get more than one go. So, once the window is open, hold the switches lightly to bring them up...hold for about 5 seconds and all should be ok.

Ok got them to close by half push of the button but nothing at full may need to disvonect the battery but it started to rain and I wasn't in the mood but at least they work so happy enough. Only drivers front window will one touch up or down is this norm?

I hope you are right but in my case it never worked without having to disconnect the battery. Worked first time after disconnecting the battery (on more than one occasion):dk:

I would try it without disconnecting the battery first but if not then may be required.

Have read mixed posts on this so I may be wrong

No, they should all be one-touch when fully depressed

When I got mine, the one-touch function wasn't (functioning), but they worked OK if you held the switch in the intermediate position (half-depressed) to go up or down. Somebody told me on here to cycle them down then up four or five times; this worked, and restored the one-touch function. A previous owner was billed an hour's labour for 'reprogramming the electric windows'...
