So I have picked up 2 used wings, both straight but not perfect, for my W210 as it has the standard rot. With some help from my friends and brother (one of which is doing all the body work) we got together to tackle the task of removing most of the front end to go away to the body shop.

the damage:

I know all the pictures seem a bit pointless at the moment, but hopefully I'll have the nice shiny newly painted wings and bumper on next Monday (bank holiday) and you will all be able to see the transformation.

Ive been thinking alot about selling the car after i've repaired it all so if anyone is interested please PM.

Hopefully have an update next week from the body shop!

The photos certainly are not pointless. Take more as you are putting the new ones back on.

In your photo showing the nearside wing off, the bumper is still on. Was this easy to do? How many bolts did you have to undo? All info is welcome since, let's face it, sooner or later the rest of us may have to do the same.

Getting the wing off before the bumper was incredibly fiddly work as there was a tiny nut that could just be reached, i would not recommend taking it off this way, we only did as we weren't sure how to do the whole job and thought the front was constructed differently - that and it didn't matter if we buggered the wings up as they were going to scrap anyway!

I think the best way is to take the bumper and wings off in one go and then take apart each piece after that.

The wing removal was ok apart from that, there were maybe 15 bolts for each wing including one between the door and wing that was a bit tight and one at the bottom where you had to remove the trim. The bumper seemed to be 2 bolts in front of the radiator and that was it, then just make sure the headlights aren't screwed in and the fogs are detached.

wow, the parts are all painted and polishes, and my mate has done a sterling job, factory finish! im so happy with it, might even keep it if no one takes it in the next two weeks or so!

another tedious amount of pictures, but you can understand why;

wow very nice!

I presume Black is just an easy match? Unfortunately I don't think the same is true of silver.

the car needs to be proper mopped before i can really comment on the paint matching, it looks ok, but you can see the new wings compared to the doors, but it also has a nearly new rear door and quarter from last november to match so a lot of the paint on the car is new and the rest isn't that old and is well looked after.

thanks mate, i really like the grill, i bought it off eBay last year and never got round to painting it, then my mate who did the bodywork said he'd do it aswell. I still have the avantgarde grill as i didn't want to paint that one!

I just need to sort the height out and wheels if im going to keep it a bit longer!
