My solution was this.
Car already fitted with a Parrot bluetooth. This pairs to the iPhone nicely.
Added a Griffin iTrip with RDS.

This gives me
full BT voice dialling/calls etc
Control of the iphone/ipod including artist/album selection by voice commands (works well)
Steering wheel volume controls work
Artist/track display in instrument cluster via RDS (far from perfect)

Not perfect, but it works for me.

Edit: forgot to add, also charges up iPhone and satnav/speed camera alerts are via the car speakers.

I guess you want to input music from the iphone to the audio 10 but unfortunately it has no aux input and there is no ipod interface for it.

There is an aftermarket solution the Denison Gateway, but for a fraction of the cost you can put in a better aftermarket stereo that is compatible with the iphone.

Comand Online Ltd :: Mercedes iPod solutions :: Dension GW500 LITE MOST - iPod kit for MOST based cars

npuk - yet again you come up with the goods - you arent wrong about the cost of the denison gateway!!

so do you in your (seemingly) infinite Merc wisdom :) have a resource link for stereos with cd player head, rds etc which also support iphone connectivity - and even better one which supports iphone use not only as a music playback device but also will use the speakers as an audio gateway for telephone conversations too???

Seems amazing that you could even use the iphone for something other than a games and audio device - according to my daughter !!

Thats quite interesting - sadly no Parrot hanging around at present - something else to look into i guess - but sounds like a possible plan - thank you very much
