Hi Guys,

This is my first ever post on the MB Forum - despite being an owner of many mercs over the past 15 yrs.

I am just in the process of upgrading from a W210 to a W211. The W211 is an avantgarde with standard 16" avantgarde alloys.

I am looking to replace them with 19" x 8.5J all round, would prefer 9.5 at rear but not in stock... so with 19 x8.5J all round - what size tyres are recommended for the best look/drive?

Currently I have available 255x35x19 - but wanted to run it by the experts first (thats you guys!) - I am looking for the best balance between comfort and looks.

Also will 19's be okay on an E240 - power and handling wise?

All advice appreciated andthanks in advance.

I think 18s are big enough on a 211 if you still want some comfort. The wheels on the new Sport trim look good (although I wouldn't like to be the one cleaning them!)

Standard tyre size

205/60/16 92 Y

Optional
225/55/16 95 Y

Optional (2)
245/45/17 95 Y

Optional (3)
Front :
245/40/18 93Y
Rear :
265/35/18 97Y

Personally, I would not go more than 18" for the best compromise between ride and looks.

However if you still go for the 19" wheels the correct size for your car will be 245/35/19 all round.

In general the bigger the wheels the more compromise on comfort.

Fit wise you could prob even get 20" wheels on the car but then ruin the ride.

Thanks guys!

Yes - its is 19" I have gone for - good a reasonable deal... free!!!! from a friend who had them sitting in his garage then ended up selling his car. I'd have had to buy the 18" so saved a few pounds - if it is too much of a compromise on the comfort then I will get some 18".

So I will be going for 245/35 19's I guess.

These are 19" rims off a W211 or at least something MB specific with the correct centrebore, offset and bolt hole diameter? Be verrrryyy careful......

Hi these are:

8.5Jx19" PCD 5X112 OFFSET 35

I believe them to be correct for the W211.... would you agree?

I am also thinking of 235/35 R19 's all the way round... did consider 245 or a combo of 255 and 235 - but think 235 will provide the best all round... any advice?

Thanks in advance.

Afraid I do not really know, which is what would make me want to try them for size on the car first.

Site below indicates you will have 6mm less internal clearance and the wheels will stick out 20mm more than the standard 7.5J rims which I think are ET 42.

Will that matter or not once the rubber is on? I suspect not since you are only losing 1/4 inch internal on the rims but.........

in terms of centrebore, I recall some people have had probs. with that so best to check

A poor picture phone pic but you get the idea
