A quickie for you clever guys.

W211 climate control. The system needs recharging as one of the pipes was broken along with the pully spline that drives the belt/compressor.

Pully now repaired and the compressor is turning, but when pressing the A/c on/off button on the dash, it flashes a few times and then stays lit.

Any ideas? Does it sense that there's no gas in the system, or no? :dk:

Thanks in advance for any assistance. :bannana:

I am sure someone better qualified than me will soon come along and give you the correct answer, but I think the system has to be reset with a Star Diagnostic thingamejig before your system will start to work?

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Terry.

I think Terrys right remember reading something similiar by olly and yes star was needed to tell the car its now okay.

Thanks chaps. I feared that.... MB really have you by the goolies don't they!! :wallbash:

I'd suggest you get it recharged with gas and oil before going any further. The system has a pressure switch to sense lack of gas, which prevents the compressor engaging in order to prevent damage.

Gordon thats what our cars do, the newer ones when they go wrong have to be repaired then told they have been repaired by the star machine.

Some of the trucks are now like this, new clutch and you have to tell it that a new clutch has been fitted until you do you loose cruise and a few other bits.

lynall - I can quite understand what you're saying, but the system is never going to work until it's charged - Peter said "The system needs recharging ". In fact, if it's reset before being charged, I'd bet that it'll need resetting again after being charged.

Gordon, it has been recharged now.....just arranging the Star part now..:thumb:

Yep sorry Gordon i didnt read Peters post correctly!

It just needs the fault memory erased and then re-gassed.
