Hi
The ventilation motor on my '05 W211 has been driving me mad by chirping at me for some time now when on low speed or when braking. Today I whipped it out and thrashed it with some fancy teflon oil and popped it back in again. It seems to have worked, the acid test will be tomorrow morning when the car interior is cold.....fingers crossed.
This is what I did: (sorry...no batteries for the camera)
Above the passenger footwell is a plastic cover held in with a couple of torx socket bolts, remove these and let the cover drop down slightly, carefully disconnect the footwell light and pull out the cover (there may be a third bolt on the back of the footwell, mine seems to be missing).
Once removed you'll find a second smaller cover held on with 4 torx socket bolts. Disconnect the fan control lead and unclip it from it's channel on the cover then take out the bolts and drop the cover off. Now you can see the motor itself.
Now you can see 8 more torx socket bolts, ignore the two at the center of the assembly and ignore the two that obviously hold the electronics assembly together. You just need to undo the 4 that hold the whole assembly into the bulkhead at the corners. Support the motor whilst you do this. Now you can gently drop the motor down, be careful not to bang the fan or set the assembly down on the fan itself as I believe it is balanced. You should now be able to oil the motor at the spindle on the bottom. Getting oil onto the top of the motor is a bit more tricky. Turn the motor onto it's side and allow oil to drip onto the top spindle behind the fan blades, then upend the motor so that the oil runs down the spindle and onto the top bearing. Use a bit of WD40 to help the process but remember to follow it up with light oil afterwards.
Initial road test seems OK but I'll let you know if it works after tomorrow.
Hope this is helpful to anyone with this problem...
