Hi all,
I need a little advice please - I'm retrofitting folding mirrors to my 2006 E320CDI (right hand drive).
I've replaced the driver side frame with a folding one.
I've also replaced the Mirror adjustment switch.
The driver's side mirror now adjusts fine (up, down, left, right), and folds when I press the "fold" button. I did not need to change the driver's door control unit.
The passenger side is posing an issue. The original controller was a A2118701326 unit (no support for folding).
I have changed the door controller to an A2118701985 unit but when it's all connected back up, I can no longer move/adjust the original (non-folding) mirror or the passenger window. I then connected a folding mirror frame, but still no have movement from either the window or the mirror.
I think I can rule out cabling breaks or shorts because when I put the original controller back in, both window and mirror can be adjusted from the driver side again.
Fair enough, I thought, it's a dodgy door controller. I sourced another, A2118701126, and have got exactly the same results.
Has anyone seen this before?
Are both new door controllers broken?
Do they need to be STAR configured to work in any new car they are put into?
Are the pin-outs different between the various door controllers?
Or am I impatient and it's simply that the new controllers need happy thoughts and a few minutes to warm up with the engine on, before they start to work?
(And yes, the engine is off while I disonnnect/reconnect all the plugs in the door controllers, but I have the engine running when testing the results...)
Thanks for any help...
Eddie.
