w211 e280 cdi sport remap

Can a 320CDI ECU be swapped into a 280CDI car instead of remapping the original ECU? Will that work? Or are these ECUS coded for specific VIN numbers etc? USed ECUs seem less expensive and more reversible than remapping.
Thanks!

Tuikku is correct in what he is saying,
You can swap ecu but will have to virgin the ecu which defeats the object of the exercise.
I need to check but I am 99% sure you can do it thou star machine,

You can change a 320cdi to a 350cdi with star machine in development mode

RESURRECTION!

Does anyone know if the 280 ECU programme can be changed trough Xentry, or is there a better option for tuning?

It's simple.

We can upgrade the 280CDi to a 320CDi no problem at all. No you can't do it through Xentry. You need to tune the ECU initially on the bench.

No issues at all. Loads of them been done!

Hi guys, so yes I'm over the moon I use a guy local to me and who remapped my last car, anyways he doesn't use generic maps he custom build the maps live, and starts with a Base map and builds on this until I was happy with the way it drove etc, he even altered the gearbox ecu so instead of the car dropping a gear the car remains in the gear and the torque pulls you instead of dropping unnecessarily. He uses state of the art technology via laptop etc he also owns a star machine so that he can scan car before he starts so any codes can be investigated before he proceeds with remap

Nice one. *That* is how the job is done properly! :thumb:

It's how I had my C320 CDI mapped. Generic maps are crap in comparison, and mostly a waste of money.

You'll only realise the full potential of your engine if the map is bespoke to both the car itself and how YOU like it to drive.

Marco.

Hi BFT - where are you? Are you a company? How can I get this done properly through the ECU not the cable port?

Thanks,
Adam.

BFT are near middlesborough and John doesn't seem to visit much anymore. You can call them: Home
