It would definitely work in another W211, would require some software changes such as engine type, tank capacity and a few other options like ESP/ASR etc and of course mileage/service data too.

As for W210, nice idea. We need to try one out really, I'd like to try one in my car if anyone has one spare!

that would be a good little mod, could even try it in the 202! Ive still got some SL55 clocks sitting somewhere which I was planning some kind of retrofit in something?!?! hasnt evolved into anything tho!

The 210 and 208 are the same generation as the 202 so the facelift 208/210 ICs will work in a facelift 202. If the 211 uses a lot of the 210 modules and canbus then there is a chance it will work in a 210 and therefore also 208/202, but this is unlikely as the 211 was a leap forward rather than evolution.
