So you need to start looking for GTG's now so we can all have a gander.
Very well done to you.

TBH, I have no idea! Never tried it. I find that the software recognises your driving style, insofar as if you have a spirited run, it'll hold the revs and change gear accordingly. I tap the right s/wheel 'paddle' 4 times in quick succession and that seems to put it back into sensible mode quickly. No worries Tim. I'd have updated the thread sooner but I didn't get in until late last night. After the 5:30 a.m. start and visiting family in the area I was exhausted by the time I got home.
Is it worth resetting the adaptive throttle response as described here or is it an ongoing process which will adapt to my driving style over time anyway?

unlike the silver one that I also looked at (MERCEDES-BENZ E CLASS AMG SALOON E55K 4dr Tip Auto For Sale in Goostrey - Evoque Cars) which felt very tired and shabby in comparison. Also, the nearside rear of the car seemed to be significantly lower than the rest of it. I don't know if that's indicative of a failed or failing suspension component but it was just another reason not to buy it.
It surprised me too. The interior was where the biggest differences were. The Evoque one had ash left in the ashtray, the surface of the COMAND screen was all worn away, the driver's seat bolster was cracked and dull... The list goes on.Now that surprises me. OK it's another 20,000 miles on the silver one IIRC but I would have thought there wouldn't be much in it.
I guess the 2004 one has had an easier life...
It's an astonishingly good car. It does the mile-munching GT thing so well that it lulls you into thinking that it'll drag its heels a bit when you put your foot down. Nothing could be further from the truth.Like Pete says, I think it's about time that I got involved in this supercharged E55 love-in...
Thanks.SPX said:Good to hear that your wait is now over C, I'm sure that it will be everything you hoped for and more.
Isn't a C5 an Electric Car cobbled together by Sir Clive Sinclair?
A5 per chance?
Either way get an A6 Avant RS6 and av the Daddy!
As JohnEBoy rightly says, C5 refers to the generation of A6 and its derivatives, including the RS6 that I'm talking about, which was made between 2002 and 2004 and has a twin-turbo 4.2 V8.C5 refers to the generation of RS6 - so the one before the one with the 5.0 V10 engine.
Everyone said that the E39 M5 had loads of character but ultimately what struck me about it was that it was lacking in torque; the whole thing was really quite a disappointment. It would seem that I care more about grunt than a finely-balanced chassis which is presumably why forced induction V8s appeal so much. I also like the way RS Audis get the power down.JohnEBoy said:I'd like to try an RS6 to see what it is like but is short on 'character' like the BMW and MB equivalents.
Six months almost to the day. I swear this compulsion is cyclic.JohnEBoy said:I can't believe you've only had the car months and are thinking of changing it!
JohnEBoy said:If you really want one, and I'd try one first, go for it. No point on hanging onto the E55 if you want to change...
I haven't driven the C6 (the one your friend has) but I have driven a C5, just over a year ago before I bought the M5. I liked it a lot but at the time I was scared off by the stories of DRC failures, leaking intercoolers and all the other stuff you hear about them. There is a lot of truth to all that so I'd get one which had had the DRC replaced with some decent coilovers, new intercoolers, etc.Have you driven an RS6?
I have had a few runs in my friends V10 RS6 and it lacks the drama of an AMG, soulless almost.
It is a very different proposition to the comparative BMW and Mercedes.
SPX said:The best way to tell if you'll regret swapping for the RS6 is to go have a drive of one and get straight back in your E55 afterwards, and see how you feel.
Also remember that the Audithat you're looking at came out sixteen years ago, the E55 ten.
