Is replacement of the pre-cat lambda sensor something that can be done DIY with the car up on axle stands?

Just been informed (although I did know already) that one of my car's sensors is faulty.

Also, would a Bosch sensor be a suitability good quality replacement vs a Merc labelled one? Told Merc is £350, whereas I've seen Bosch for about £120.

I parked my car with drivers side up on the kurb. I had room enough to slide under, replace the lambda and slide out.

I used a Bosch one 3-4 years ago , with no issues . I think there is only one sensor (at least there is on mine) .
Yes Diy on the drive is what I did . There are two different length cables on some of the sensors . The short one did not fit on mine .

Start dowsing the sensor thread now with penetrant/releasant and continue to as often as possible between now and doing the job. Find a snug fitting spanner/socket/etc compatible with the space/access available and on the day, do the change after a drive with the exhaust system plenty hot.
I've had sensors screw right out with minimal effort and ones that have had to be cut out. You just don't know how it'll be until you get there.

Thanks for replies folks. I think based upon the replies, I shall give it a go myself with the Bosch option, rather than paying over double for someone else to do it.

I went Bosch, £89 from partsinmotion.
Chop off the wiring and you'll get a good sized ring spanner on the nut.
