Hi hope someone can shed some light on this. Drove to work fine then put something in the boot so boot opener worked! Now opener won't work nor the rear number plate lights or 3rd brake light! Confused. Is there one fuse for all these or is it something in the boot lid? Will remove cover after work but just seems strange.

broken wire on the hinge

Thanks guys will look later.

All fixed guys. Was broken brown wire on left hand boot arm! Completely snapped. 10minutes to fix happy days. Thanks again.

I’ve just got 3rd brake light warning come up on dash, replaced light but still comes up on dash ?? Can’t see any bad wires either ??

Just read up on several related articles and looks like I had better trace the wire from light to loom in boot and possible replace it as it’s most likely the actual copper wire inside the cable itself

After reading some related articles it looks like a probability that’s it’s actually broken copper wire within the actual cable...... so to trace from light connection bk to the loom in the boot.....

So.... I’ve tested the connector plug with a test meter and there s power ???? So now I’m baffled why the 3rd light suddenly doesn’t work ??? The other 2 brake lights work perfectly...... it’s defo not on a separate connection is it ??

Hmmm.... would I be right in thinking that just because the red wire creates a connection with the tester doesn’t mean that the earth wire isn’t split somewhere down the line ????? No earth, no lighty ????

Question is.... how far back do a trace the earth wire ?

I’ve traced it back in the boot.... taken a photo but it’s too large ! Typical ! MB 2115400032. One number on the label ? Any ideas ?

I’ve traced it back in the boot....

I’ve just wired the light straight to the battery and it lite up so it’s the live wire that’s at fault and not the earth

I see the big wire has 6/7 wires soldered to it ? But as everything else works why does the led light not ??? I’m baffled !

ive Even attached separate wires to the earth wire from the module and to the live with all the heads on it yet the light won’t come on..... but works direct from the battery...... could it be the modules at fault ? A relay or summat daft ? I’m not a technician/ sparky so I just can’t get my head around it.....
