i THINK I'VE REACHED THE END OF MY TETHER REGARDING THIS DAM CAR.

Today i went to switch on the radio (non sat nav) and there was no sound. I then turned the volume up and there was sound ,however. The radio then lowered the volume down to silent as though someone was turning the volume down elswhere.

The unit also does this on the CD and Tape player.

Any ideas?

Sounds like you have something either mechanically or electrically sending a "volume down" message to COMAND - steering wheel switch jammed?

Edit: whoops - must type faster ;)

The wife's not sitting in the back seat with a remote control is she, maybe she doesn't like your choice of station..

Just used the steering controls and everythings ok now.

Looks like another glitch/eccentricity to add to the list:bannana:

Over the 4 years I owned mine it did this on 3 occasions. Not something I really bothered with as as soon as you stopped for a a bit and restarted it was ok again.

The W211 behaves much better when the 2002 software is flashed up to 2007. The small problems are all well known. So doing the head unit (recent thread) and the AGW (audio controller) will produce many pleasant results.

All of these problems are related to poor scholarship at the dealer.

Yes, these are well known faults that many early W211s had and are easily rectified by the dealer (should be free)

Sandy20379. Welcome to the forum. There's loads of information on the W211 in various threads. It should help you enjoy the car.
