W212 5.5 e63 - exhaust setup thoughts?

Yes, my experience, keep H pipe configuration where the resonator used to live. It eliminates drone.

Some samples different set up:
Rear box removed only

Rear box and resonator removed with H pipe. This set up is perfect balance, keeping neighbours happy.

Full straight through, downpipes with H pipe configuration where the resonator used to live. Pipe increased from 2.75" to 3". This set up is a fighter jet, you will hear the turbo spool. Very agreesive set up. You won't hear much from the inside cabin, car is very well insulated. However,
neighbours will not like you due to hideous cold start. It's excessively loud for approx 20 seconds on cold start.

My experience yes, no drone or boomy noise at any rev range, just cold start is an issue.

The Standard rear silencers are not too bad !? I put a torch in one end.

I have mine too stored in the shed, it does weigh a few pounds 🙂

MSL is my go to, they are based in Midlands, bit of a trek. 👍

That's an X pipe. A decent exhaust shop can fabricate the h section for you, so you wouldn't need to worry about buying exhaust pieces. Where abouts are you based, you may have some local exhaust fabricators near you?👍

. This BMW is suffering the same problem as my E63. .After doing some research I think the X pipe is what I need.

Okay, Good luck 👍

There some potential power and torque differences between X and H pipes but you’ll not notice the difference in the real world. You will notice the sound differences though so have a think about what you want it to sound like before committing.
