Does anyone know if there's a suitable after market sill protector available. I don't have the easy-pack option, but I'd find the protector very useful.

I've seen a couple on eBay, but they don't look that practical.

If you mean for the rear load space I got some heavy duty cord carpet and cut one to fit the entire loadspace, leaving an extra 150mm which can be folded out to cover the cill/bumper when required.

This works because you cover/protect the entire loadspace and it can be removed to be shaken.

Cheap and durable.

Yeah, good call on that. I got a large picnic rug and I've put that down in the back. Now it looks the same as pretty much every other MB estate boot I've ever seen.

I got one of these

http:/www.mb-configurator.net/mba/wapp40/index.php?webreq=pge/sel/acy&websid=679a70edfe0a91ddfd0138f79a5aceb6&dyncnf=mba&selprd=1113

and one of these

Mercedes-Benz Accessories - MBA

Doesn't show the price on the website but remember that both were reasonable, maybe £80 for the mat, £40 for the sill protector.

Both work well, you can attach the sill protector to mat (velco) and the sill protector secures to the eyelets in the load compartment. They can then roll-up together to give access to the load floor and hide behind the added row of seats when needed.

Yes, I saw the concertiner thing and thought it was a bit over the top when all I really wanted was something to sit on, tie up boots on, and protect the sill against things being slid into the boot.

The rug (as cheap as it was) seems to fit the bill quite well.

I think it's perfect for that, although mine is also used by smaller people, with little legs that don't really understand why their father gets upset when the kick their heals on the back of his car or step on the bumper when climbing into the 'funny' seats in the back.

Open the boot, drop the concertina out and everyone can sit in the back and get their boots on without scratching anything. (Note: they still get a clip round the ear if they step on the bumper climbing in - Double Note to any Social Workers reading - they don't really get a clip)

I think the mat is great to. It is double sided with a hard plastic on one side and carpet on the other. Dirty boots, wet clothes, bags of coal? chuck em in, take em out and wipe the mess up, flip the mat over and reload with hats and coats etc.

Did have a couple of rugs around the house, but they were rather beautiful 100% wool Welsh variety, woven in 100+ year old water mills and it seemed a shame to treat them so shabbily!
