W212 reversing camera ?

How easy is it to fit a reversing camera to a W212 that has comand.

Would the video line cable be in the car or would I have to wire this in?
On the rear of the comand unit does it just plug in?
Would I need to have the car hooked up to a star machine?

There is nothing in the car, but its not particularly difficult if you take it slowly and carefully ..

The COMAND will need to be SCN coded (after the MB database is updated for your car to show option 218, reversing camera). The genuine camera for this is particularly expensive though ...

Adding reversing camera loses you the video AUX from Media Interface ..

Is it a W212 estate, or saloon ?

Hi Richard,

I have been searching for answers to retrofitting a Revese camera and so far you are the only one with any info. I would to install a camera on my 2011 E250CDI Sport estate with Command.

Talk to alfie at Comand Online (see my signature) he'll be able to make you a kit with proper Mercedes parts. The MB camera is *very* good. He will need your chassis number
