Got 19" amg wheels standard on the sport variant.

What would be a good winter tyre combination (alloy +rubber)?

Cheers

The highest tyre profile combined with the narrowest wheel rim that will fit your hub/brake disc/caliper within reason. Recommended winter wheel tyre combos are usually listed in the owners manual reference section. The tyre can be speed de-rated by at least one group.

As grober, check out the back of your owners manual for the manufacturers recommendations. That way you won't have any problems with your insurance company. Nokian make some of the best winter tyres and they are fairly competitive. They are also high speed rated so no problems with cruising at 200kmph+ on the Autobahns!

Winter tyres really do make a difference. We have a separate set for the wife's SLK and I'm seriously contemplating a set for my W203 which went nowhere for a couple of weeks last winter. The issue is the size of wheels / tyres manufacturers now fit. In the old days all cars were rear wheel drive and had skinny tyres but it was never a problem when it snowed.
