Windscreen wipers have suddenly stopped working.

2007 W221 S320

I have had the codes read and the it has picked up a error between the front SAM and Master Windscreen motor.

I have checked fuses - 41, 42, and 49 - all appear fine.

Test were run on the stalk switch and passed fine.

Question, are there 2 motors? As fuse diagram states there are x2 wiper fuses. The one mentioned on the error code is 'master', so i assume this will be driver side?

Any other suggestions to fix the issue would be great, thanks.

There were issues with a misplaced wiring harness (damaged from chafing) but this should not apply to a MY 2007 car.

The W221 indeed has two motors and no mechanical connection between the two.

Is it when the car is stationary or also at speed (above 3 km/h)? Could be the door switch.

As it has 2 motors, should one be working then? What are the odds on both motors packing up at the same time? Any ideas to narrow down the fault ?

Wipers don't work at all, at any time parked or driving.

Cannot help with ideas narrowing down the fault but you said diagnosis fault codes referred to an issue between the front SAM and the master motor. There is nothing more than wiring between the SAM and the master, I would check that wiring first.

The slave would not run unless the master orders it to move. You cannot assume both motors being broken.

Many thanks, will try tracing the wiring.
