W230 Fuel flap opening from inside?

Hi All,
I need urgently to add to the thimble full of fuel in the tank of my sl. The rear battery went flat and despite being on charge for 24 hours refuses to open the flap.

Can you hear it unlock when you unlock the car?

No, nothing, and the boot won't open apart from on the key.

You may have an issue with the PSE pump in the boot. Is there any water in there at the bottom around the foam on the left?

The lock for the flap can be acessed (i think) by removing some trim on that side of the boot you can gain access to the flap lock mechanism.

Any idea how to get at and remove the fuel filler flap lock on a 2001 CLK200 Kompressor Coupe please? Have suspected air leak on it - unlocking is a problem, vac pump running forever to build up enough pressure. Hope you can help....?
