...a rental..not saying what !
If I get someone other than an MB dealer to replace a windscreen (2003 W203) will it invalidate the warranty?

On a slightly different tack, will it be evident to anyone that it has been changed?

Don't particularly want to ask the dealer this question!!

If, I need MB to do the work whats the likely cost?

Cheers

The most obvious thing that people would notice would be the markings on the windscreen itself.

On the W203 (in fact on most cars) you will find that the Car manufacturers name & logo is printed onto the glass. On an aftermarket replacement (i.e AutoGlass,Autowindscreens etc) the name is generally that of the glass manufacturer only, i.e. Solaglass, Saint Gobain, Pilkington etc.

Can't think why the warranty would be invalidated, however I wouldn't really want anyone else other than MB to replace the screen if it was my car. I don't know how much damage your windscreen has, but if you only have a stone chip it may be worth getting it repaired.

I went with autowindscreens and my new glass has a MB icon on it !
I told them that if it didnt then i wouldnt let them do it!

Thanks for the comments

Have now checked with MB and they confirmed it doesn't matter who does it.

Nice tip about the MB logo!!

Cheers

That's great that you've got it fixed now. Will definitley bear in mind for the future to say that it must have the MB logo on it or else they can't do it.
