Car
2019 VW Passat GT estate. SLK- now gone 2010 Hyundai I 10.
Just gone with Warranty Direct for my SLK230.
Online quote was £697.00. Phoned them and got a higher level of cover with main dealer labour rates for £550.00.:D:D

They cover pre-existing too which is a massive bonus. My mates 4yr old A3 was warrantied with Warrant Wise. He took the policy out when he bought the car in the summer and recently had his DMF diagnosed as 'borked' (see mullered). Lond story short is that despite the impending failure it was deemed by WW as within its service life and that they wouldnt pay as it was a pre-existing condition that would have started to deteriorate before he took out his policy. Surely that pre-existing covers everything then as all car parts deteriorate from the moment the car is first used. After a heated exchange or two he got a full refund but I would seriously recommend no-one uses them.
Warranty Direct on the other hand I have heard very good things about. Sounds like you got a good deal too so kudos to you sir.

warranty direct are a hunk of ****

Why?

I've been with them for a few years. I have had to claim twice, the first was for a head gasket change which they paid in full for, the second on my new car, refused claim.

The refused claim was for the known rubber seals that live in the rocker cover on the E class, they can start to leak. I got this fixed myself, it was a cheap fix. Warranty Direct don't cover seals etc unless they are changed as part of an engine etc repair.

I have premium cover for my car. All mechanical, air suspension etc plus emissions and ICE cover. £650 with repairs at a franchised dealer. I think this is good value especially for what my car is!

I think most of the "knockers" for warranty cover have made the fundamental mistake of looking at the different levels of cover (hence premium), going for one that's not at the top (ie most expensive) then getting upset when a claim is declined. You pays your money ....

I have used warranty direct for years - so far claims paid out total at least twice what I've paid in, so worth it in my view

This is so true, When renewal time came for my SL, they try downgrade the level of cover and increase the premium. I must have lol for a few days then rang them to cancel cover, then the whole lets see what we can do came up, I told them straight I wanted the same level as last year (the best one they do) and also a discount as I had not made any claims, after about 1hr on the phone, got the cover for £550 all in...:bannana:
