Finally got round to washing claying and waxing, I had to fill up so while I was there I popped into Tesco underground car park…;)

Just in time too as it just started to rain as I pulled out of the car park…

Just got to get the front bumper resprayed and the insert back to black and I'll be happy :)

Looks good. Certainly has come up very very well.

Don't enter the photography competition in the off topic section though eh! :p

My personal opinion is that the wheels 1. look like the sit too far out and 2. do not look like the suit the period of the car and are a bit too modern in appearance.

I hope you appreaciate I am only so very honest with my critical observation as you clearly love the car so much and have been willing to rectify so many short fallings so far that you might want to know opinions to finish it off.

Of course if you are happy with the look of the wheels my view counts for abosulutely nothing! :o

Graham I appreciate what you are saying, I soooo want to change the wheels but I am waiting for a period set of Carlsson wheels to fall into my lap ;)

There is a few more things I would like to sort first, front bumper, new head rest  and this dreaded running problem...

It looks great well done, i am looking forward to seeing it at the GTG at the end of the month.
Good luck with the running problems.

Have you considered lowering it a little?

Looks great. Agree with Graham about the wheels, and wth Black C55 about lowering the car at the rear. Try number 1 spring pads at the back.

Looks great. I too prefer period wheels, but I think those look better than I might have expected. A very nice car!! ;)

It is very nice! :) The wheels don't look that bad! I think they look ok. Obviously there may be some that would look better but then there are some that would look awful! And as you say, you're waiting for the right set to come along....;)

nice job there!!!! dash clocks look good there too a glow of blue, what ones are they?

Truely looks a fantastic car. I really do like the colour and the rims, there off the latest SL Class if i aint wrong. A couple of suggestions that i wish to make however your opinions may vary so im only suggesting and final descision is ofcourse yours:

Stick to keep the insert on the front bumper blue and perhaps spray the rear colour coded, gives it a facelift look

Facelift style handles with the chrome strip

Lastly a avantgarde grill insert will really contrast the front

Also one question are your headlamps Xenon ?

car looks great, just my tupence but these wheels would really suit your car IMO, always look best on pre facelift 124's.

I think the wheels actually suit the car pretty well, they freshen up the look so the car is sort of retro/modern.

Knowing that indoor lighting flatters the paintwork on cars if I was to make a criticism it would be that the paintwork could do with a machine polish to remove swirl marks.
You can see them in a couple of the pics, especially the one of the front wing close up.
A polish would make that car really shine with sharp reflections.

I'd keep the bumper inserts black as a contrast and to match the grille.

I think stick it out for some spoked Carlsson rims or don't bother.

Yes I noticed the swirls when polishing it yesterday, my mate has just got some Cordless polishes in at his shop ServU so I might try one of those...

I'd be surprised if a cordless has the guts to do anything on swirls, they are only buffers really.
Go for a Silverline Professional variable speed rotary or second hand makita with speed hold function.

I purchased a Silverline and have no regrets and you won't damage the paint unless you are really agressive and foolish.

HERE

Scroll Down the page price is plus vat.

You must go for the Orange professional one to get the better speed control and it's better built.

Beware of Ebay sellers showing the orange one then sending the blue one, which is not the professional. The model number is in the first linky.

looks really good, nice job! also some good advice on getting a machine polish would do wonders for it, then a good waxing. i have just treated myself to the porter cable polisher and it makes a massive difference to the finish, aint done mine yet though just family!

If you ask EspC180 he will give you advice on the best products around to use and he he speaks highly of the Porter Cable, i believe a UK 240 version is soon to be released or already released
